R36 million
on bursaries for over 318 black South Africans.
Through bursary funding, academic support, micro entrepreneur training and seed capital programmes, we ensure economic success flows outward – fuelling opportunities, job creation, and sustainable livelihoods that uplift entire communities.
We combine investment with mentorship, governance support and access to networks, helping our partners grow responsibly while ensuring their success translates into real societal benefit.
Utilising the returns from a solid investment base, built up over more than two decades our initiatives have empowered over 65 000 South Africans through a wide range of community development and anti-poverty initiatives, based on the pillars of education and entrepreneurship. Since 2014, EDT has backed Promaths at the Kutlwanong Centre for Maths, Science & Technology. This initiative delivers extra tuition in mathematics and science to Grade 10–12 learners, bridging gaps in under-resourced schools and expanding the future pool of STEM-capable talent.
We invest in bursaries for promising black South African learners, unlocking opportunities at the high school and tertiary levels. These bursaries nurture talent and contribute to the broader economy by supporting South Africa’s next generation of leaders.
Innovation Africa brings Solar technology to rural African villages, to pump clean water into community infrastructure. EDT was the original sponsor to Innovation Africa in South Africa, funding boreholes in Limpopo’s Vhembe district, Mpumalanga’s Bushbuckridge area and Kwazulu Natal’s Goqiyane village, bringing safe water access to thousands.
EDT has supports micro-entrepreneurs with training, mentorship, business skills and seed capital. By equipping business owners with the skills and resources to thrive, we enable inclusive economic growth from the ground up.
EDT funds entrepreneurship programmes in schools, helping learners understand money management and business concepts from an early age. By empowering young people with financial skills, we prepare them to participate confidently in the economy.
EDT assisted with the establishment of YES by funding its set-up and operational costs. This programme creates work opportunities for young South Africans, giving them critical first-job experience and building the foundations for long-term participation in the economy.
